NFWF Chesapeake Bay Innovative Nutrient & Sediment Reduction Grants (INSR)

The National Fish & Wildlife Foundation offers grants through its Innovative Nutrient and Sediment Reduction Grants program (INSR) to support collaborative, regional-scale partnerships that accelerate water quality improvements.

Projects must be within the Chesapeake Bay Watershed and support implementation of Watershed Implementation Plans (WIPs).

The 2023 program was infused with funds from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, which tripled funds compared to 2022. $10 Million slated for traditional INSR projects plus $20 Million slated for new focus on nature-based infrastructure projects. Also continues 2022 focus on projects that advance pilot and early stages of conservation finance strategies, such as pay-for-performance, credit markets, and revolving funds.

See the PDF below for organizations that have received regional grants for work in 2021/2022 focusing on such BMPs as buffers, rotational grazing, and soil health.
